Sunrise Plastic is proud to announce that we have been named the Best in Class Winner at the 2026 Safety Excellence Awards (SEA), presented by the Industry Business Roundtable (IBR) and Health & Safety Council (HASC). The award was presented on May 15, 2026, at Moody Gardens Hotel in Galveston, Texas.

A First — and a Long Time Coming
This Best in Class recognition marks the eighth time IBR and HASC have acknowledged Sunrise for its safety performance, and our first time earning the top distinction in our category. It follows three Gold-level recognitions at this same event, a record that reflects not a single standout year, but a sustained, organization-wide commitment to doing things right.
The Safety Excellence Awards are presented annually to contractors and subcontractors in the Texas Gulf Coast Area who demonstrate outstanding on-the-job safety promotion and performance at an asset owner’s site. Best in Class is the highest level of recognition, awarded to only one company per category, and signifies that most elements of the recipient’s program, both in the field and in program documentation, exceed minimum requirements and demonstrate exceptional best practices.

Accepting the Award
President Chris Magnus accepted the award alongside Director and Treasurer Phien La, with Sunrise CEO and founder Thuy Phan, members of the Sunrise Services team, and their guests in attendance.
“This recognition is a reflection of how safety is baked into everything we do at Sunrise,” said Magnus. “Across every customer site we work at, we hold ourselves to the highest safety standards — doing the right thing even when nobody is watching. It’s good for our team and our customers, and it’s good for business. Earning Best in Class for the first time, after three Gold recognitions, means a great deal to all of us.”

Safety as a Core Value
Since 1988, Sunrise has provided solutions for all the major petrochemical producers across North America, collecting and removing excess polymers using customized equipment and industry-leading recovery techniques. Our methods ensure collection is seamless, unobtrusive, and preserves the environment in and around the petrochemical plants. Using world-class polymer improvement processes and technical testing, we return the polymer to a clean, homogeneous state, ready for purchase by users seeking a cost-effective alternative to prime material.
Safety is not an add-on to that work. It is woven into every aspect of how we operate. Performing at customer sites means earning and maintaining trust, and our team takes that responsibility seriously at every level of the organization.

About the Safety Excellence Awards
The SEA program is designed not only to recognize achievement, but to advance the safety culture across the industry. Participants are encouraged to learn from one another through shared best practices and direct observation of peer programs. Being named Best in Class is a distinction earned through rigorous evaluation, and a responsibility to continue setting the standard.
